About the Role

The Recreation Programmer is a key member of our team, responsible for implementing and evaluating activity programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of our residents. This role requires a collaborative and engaging individual who can develop and maintain professional relationships that support our organizational culture and purpose.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a safe and engaging environment for residents, family, and staff, through accident prevention, emergency procedures, and infection control.
  • Assist residents with portering to and from programs as required, and observe, document, and report any changes in residents to the supervisor and/or nurse.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff, community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services, and assist in the maintenance of statistical records using programs such as Activity Pro and Point Click Care.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and support to volunteers, and assist in the evaluation of volunteers.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Grade 12 Education
  • Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate program
  • Previous experience in a senior's focused environment an asset
  • Dementia course an asset
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate
  • Serving It Right Certificate
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate an asset
  • Valid Class 4 (Unrestricted) BC Driver's License
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
