About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Counsellor/Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the University of Toronto. As a key member of our Health & Counselling Centre, you will provide clinical counselling and psychotherapy to students, including those who are questioning their sexual and/or gender identity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students, including those in crisis
  • Assess the mental health needs of clients and make referrals to appropriate resources
  • Develop and implement psychotherapeutic plans to support students' mental health and well-being
  • Collaborate with other departments and services to ensure students receive comprehensive support
  • Participate in training and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work or counselling/psychotherapy and registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum five years of clinical counselling experience, with a focus on working with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and young adults
  • Experience working in a community mental health setting and providing crisis counselling and brief or short-term therapy
  • Strong knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ issues and experiences, including trauma and mental health concerns
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
