Lafarge Canada Inc. is seeking a skilled Asphalt Roller Operator to join our team in Prince George, BC. As a key member of our paving crew, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our road construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate finish roller machinery to compact asphalt and achieve smooth road surfaces.
- Collaborate with paving crews to ensure proper alignment and compaction of asphalt layers.
- Conduct preoperational inspections on equipment to identify maintenance or repair needs.
- Adjust roller settings to achieve desired compaction levels and surface finishes.
- Monitor asphalt temperature and moisture levels to optimize compaction efficiency.
- Work in coordination with other equipment operators and laborers to complete paving projects on schedule.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily production logs and equipment maintenance reports.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues that arise.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a roller.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of asphalt paving techniques.
- Ability to read survey markings and interpret paving plans.
- Previous experience operating finish roller equipment or similar machinery in asphalt paving is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project schedules.
- Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in outdoor environments.
