Senior Director – Global Initiatives

Under the guidance of the Executive Director and as a key member of the senior leadership team, the Senior Director – Global Initiatives provides strategic oversight and management of the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children's international initiatives. This role guarantees the alignment, compliance, quality, and effectiveness of programs in close collaboration with global partners and in accordance with the organization's strategic objectives. The incumbent is responsible for establishing strategic alliances to secure institutional funding and adapting initiatives to international contexts, with a particular emphasis on decolonization and localization of aid efforts. Furthermore, this position entails developing insights and recommendations regarding priorities for Canada's international aid policies.

The Canadian Partnership for Women and Children is in search of a Senior Director of Global Initiatives who shares our commitment to justice and social transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Oversight: Formulate a strategic vision for international initiatives, aligning goals with the organization's mission and making informed decisions to enhance impact. Development and Management of Complex Initiatives: Co-create and oversee intricate international projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, evaluation, resource allocation, and team leadership.

Global Issues Expertise: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Canada's international policy landscape, global challenges in development, humanitarian assistance, and human rights. Stay updated on geopolitical contexts, social issues, and the needs of local communities.

Participation in Executive Leadership: Engage in executive leadership activities and contribute to the achievement of organizational objectives.

Enhancing Program Visibility: Collaborate on public engagement campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and policy advocacy with other departments. Ensure consistent messaging both internally and externally.

Co-development of Government Relations Strategy: Contribute to the formulation of the government relations strategy from the perspective of international initiatives.

Financial Oversight: Ensure effective budget management, fundraising, and responsible utilization of financial resources under their purview.

Team Leadership and Development: Manage and cultivate human resources within the team, fostering continuous improvement and a collaborative, positive environment that encourages participation, professional growth, and innovation in alignment with feminist principles.

Act as a Representative when Necessary: Serve as a representative of the organization when required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Availability:
  • Hybrid Work Model (remote and office-based): Minimum in-office presence as required by current policy.
  • Flexible scheduling options.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Management, International Development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of substantial experience in international program development and management, including five (5) years in a similar capacity, with a proven track record in relationships with Canadian funders and institutional partners.
  • Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written – essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong understanding of the issues, stakeholders, ecosystem, and context of international cooperation and humanitarian assistance in Canada.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and address complex issues effectively.
  • Negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders, including multicultural teams, local partners, and funders.
  • Recognized leadership abilities, coordination skills, and capacity for innovation.
