About the Opportunity

The City of Barrie is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial direction of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the financial operations of the City, ensuring effective management of financial activities, including budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Finance Department, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Manage the City's financial systems and procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead and manage a team of financial professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the achievement of departmental objectives.
Requirements
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) acquired.
  • Ten (10) years of experience performing duties related to financial management, including demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in municipal finance, including budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and financial principles and practices.
