GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Cranbrook, BC

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and repair of our heavy equipment fleet.

About the Job:

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our heavy equipment, including commercial motor vehicles. You will work closely with our experienced mechanics to ensure that our equipment is in good working condition and that our customers receive the best possible service.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy duty trucks and equipment
  • Complete reports, work orders, and order parts as needed
  • Assist in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedules
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by management

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a mechanic
  • Computer literate and able to be trained on software systems
  • Meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Use diagnostic software a plus
  • Follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
  • Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job
