About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at Dartmouth General Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is transforming healthcare delivery and patient care throughout our province.

As a Physician Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of Emergency Department attending Physicians to provide clinical services. This role offers the opportunity to work to the full scope of practice and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain health history and conduct comprehensive physical assessments to formulate a differential diagnosis
  • Order diagnostic testing and interpret results to inform treatment plans
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including preventive and therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with and seek consultation from supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • Recent emergency medicine experience and certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS
