About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is currently seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at Dartmouth General Hospital. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the transformation of healthcare delivery in our province.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive health histories and conduct thorough physical assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with emergency department attending physicians to provide clinical services and make decisions regarding patient care
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including preventive and therapeutic interventions, in accordance with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants Scope of Practice and National Competency Profile
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • Recent emergency medicine experience and certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS
