Municipal Group of Companies, a leading transportation and logistics company, is seeking a skilled Cross Border Heavy Haul Driver to join our team based out of our Bedford, NS office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive long distances throughout Canada and the United States, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods.
  • Load, transport, and offload various commodities of freight, adhering to all applicable regulations and safety protocols.
  • Report any incidents or issues encountered on the road to the dispatcher.
  • Inspect trailers before and after each trip, recording any defects or issues found.
  • Keep accurate electronic logs of all activities, including hours of service and vehicle maintenance.
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, adhering to company standards.
  • Load and unload deliveries using various mechanisms and delivery assistance devices.
  • Utilize technology to map routes, track shipments, and communicate with colleagues and customers.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely delivery of goods, meeting customer expectations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional manner.
  • Operate a variety of vehicles, including standard double-drops, RGN double-drops, and multi-axle flatbeds and step decks.
  • Comply with all regulations and permits required for heavy haul and oversized freight movements.
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Class 1 driver's license.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Computer literacy and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel required throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Manual dexterity required for computer equipment and other tools.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds.
