Position Overview:


We are in search of a driven Manager, Corporate Finance and Accounting to become an integral part of our Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the monthly accounting closure for WELL's central office functions while delivering exceptional business support to our leadership team. Your expertise in general accounting, operational planning, project management, and banking administration will be crucial. You will be expected to uphold a high standard of integrity and continuously seek process improvements to mitigate financial risks. The ideal candidate will exhibit confidence, assertiveness, and outstanding communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple priorities. This position reports directly to the SVP Finance and Chief Accounting Officer.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Reporting:
  • Oversee month-end closing activities for WELL's central office functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, and banking/payment processes.
  • Review and authorize working papers, month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and sales tax submissions.
  • Manage the accounting, reconciliation, and settlement of intercompany accounts among WELL entities.
  • Prepare and review documentation to support quarterly and annual financial reporting and external audits, addressing inquiries from auditors.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A).
  • Monitor and assess internal controls over financial reporting to ensure proper design, documentation, and operational effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on emerging IFRS standards and provide necessary technical accounting evaluations.

Financial Planning & Analysis:
  • Provide high-quality finance and accounting support to WELL's functional leaders, ensuring effective communication and timely, accurate financial insights.
  • Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts for corporate functional groups, assisting the FP&A team in creating monthly dashboards, management reports, and financial analyses.


Treasury Management:
  • Oversee WELL's banking administration, collaborating with various banks to manage account openings/closures, maintain signing authorities, and control user access to banking platforms.
  • Participate in the implementation and management of WELL's corporate credit card programs.


General Management:
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop team members by assigning tasks, managing performance, setting objectives, and providing ongoing training.
  • Assist in the integration of newly acquired entities, including transitioning shared service activities to the central office and standardizing processes.
  • Collaborate with the finance transformation team to implement new accounting software and automate accounting and reporting functions.


Qualifications:

  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting or reporting roles
  • Experience in public companies and the healthcare/technology sector is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and expertise in designing and implementing accounting processes and internal controls
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate on team projects
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  • High attention to detail, coupled with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Customer-focused with a demonstrated commitment to integrity and ethics

The salary for this position is competitive and will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the organization's specific needs. Salary Range / Hourly Pay range
: $115,000 TO $135,000 CAD per annum
