Job Summary:

The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance department at BC Place Stadium, including receivables, collections, compliance, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and providing financial analysis support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the finance department's operations, including receivables, collections, compliance, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Plan and conduct preliminary to final settlement of large event transactions with international clients and partners.
  • Accounting duties include delivering, reconciling event billing, collections, review and posting G/L and sub-ledger entries.
  • Ensure managers and other senior leaders' complete revenue-related service orders, margin expectations, and risks are identified.
  • Oversee annual audit to ensure timely and efficient completion.
  • Manage and build relationships with service providers, including shared services teams, insurance, auditors, clients, partners, and other advisors.
  • Recommend and direct action of staff on financial matters, including client issues, landlord/tenant issues, partners, and contracts with suppliers.
  • Provide guidance on leases, building recoveries, official supplier agreements, client contracts, and sponsorship agreements.
  • Provide business and financial scenario analysis support to event and sales management teams.
  • Forecasting/Budgeting - Work with site finance leads to develop projections using forecasting tools and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts and budgets.
  • Month End Reporting – responsible for coordinating and reviewing monthly P&L, event statements, KPI's, executive financial information, and conducts variance analysis against budget to identify spending trends to operational leads.
  • Manage current financial collection processes and adapt to improving workflow efficiencies to ensure dynamic revenues and expenses are complete under sensitive deadlines.
  • Provide backfilling duties as needed to departmental teams seconded to new projects.
  • Provide 2026 FIFA World Cup event settlement support as needed.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of a 4-year University program in Finance or Accounting or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in an event-based environment and 1+ year of managerial experience, ideally within the convention/hotel industry.
  • Solid knowledge of PSA and GAAP standards.
  • High level of accountability and business sense driven.
  • Detail-oriented strategic thinker with exceptional analytical abilities and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead, coach, and mentor staff to reach their full potential.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a timely manner.
  • A sound working knowledge of a wide variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office (including higher-level functions of MS Excel such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.), Momentus (or other event management systems), and web-based ticketing platforms.
  • Ability to synthesize large sets of data to develop financial settlement models, reconciliation working papers, and other ad hoc projects.
  • General business experience in a corporate environment in the event management, sporting, entertainment, or hospitality industries is preferred.
  • Exposure to risk management and contract negotiations is preferred.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a team environment and able to work independently.
  • High degree of resiliency and flexibility, while remaining motivated by challenging situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet tight timelines and to respond to pressing issues.
  • Proactive and takes initiative.
