Perinatal Nursing Opportunity at Burnaby Hospital

Fraser Health is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to join our Perinatal team at Burnaby Hospital. As a Perinatal Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and families, providing high-quality care and support in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to consolidate their skills and knowledge in the Perinatal specialty. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide person-centered care to patients and families, and participate in the development and implementation of care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and collect information from a variety of sources using skills of observation, communication, data review and physical assessment.
  • Makes a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determines whether the condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention.
  • Plans, performs and evaluates nursing interventions and care.
  • Collaborates with patients and their families/care givers in developing the care plan and encourages family participation in the development, implementation and ongoing modification of the care plan.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust and respect, advocating for the patient's rights to privacy, dignity and access to information, and by ensuring the patient's choice and autonomy in decision making and care planning.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of the applicable post graduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the applicable post graduate specialty nursing courses/program.
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
