Position Overview
Deputy Director, Nursing Education
Assiniboine Community College
Assiniboine Community College is situated on the ancestral lands of Treaty No. 1 and Treaty No. 2, encompassing the traditional territories of Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene, and Anishinabek/Ojibwe peoples, along with the national homeland of the Red River Metis. The institution also recognizes the various Treaty territories that host its community-based training programs and appreciates the welcoming spirit extended to learners pursuing knowledge.
With a steadfast commitment to reconciliation and a reputation as a national leader in community-oriented programs, particularly in remote and rural regions, Assiniboine Community College has been delivering outstanding educational experiences through applied learning and research for over six decades. The college operates multiple campuses, offering over 60 distinct certificate, diploma, and advanced credential programs to more than 4,100 full-time students across a variety of fields. Plans for further development include the introduction of new and enhanced programs aimed at aligning student outcomes with local and national workforce demands.
Assiniboine Community College is currently in search of a Deputy Director for the Nursing Education division. This influential role is crucial in synchronizing the academic objectives of the Nursing School with the broader priorities of the college. The Deputy Director will engage with external stakeholders, including professional organizations, governmental bodies, employers, and community groups. Reporting directly to the Dean of Nursing, the Deputy Director will provide both academic and operational leadership, promote collaborative decision-making, ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and exceptional teaching, and strengthen community partnerships during a time of significant growth. The ideal candidate will be well-positioned to transition into the Dean role upon the current Dean's retirement, showcasing the ambition and capability for this Senior Leadership position.
The preferred candidate for the Deputy Director role will possess a graduate degree in Nursing or a related discipline, hold a valid Manitoba LPN or RN license in good standing (or be eligible for licensure), and have demonstrated leadership experience within a post-secondary environment. Candidates should exhibit a strong commitment to reconciliation, quality education, and student achievement, alongside excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical skills are essential for fostering data-informed and collegial decision-making. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to develop programs and partnerships that align with the goals of the Nursing School and the college. Attributes such as collaboration, strategic leadership, and a dedication to academic excellence and relationship-building are vital for success in this position.
Assiniboine Community College is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its operations. Accommodations will be provided throughout the recruitment, selection, and assessment processes, in accordance with the Accessible Canada Act 2019 and applicable provincial accessibility standards.
The college encourages participation in its Self-Declaration Form to better understand its ability to meet organizational goals related to diversity and inclusion.
