Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Laboratory Assistant to join our team at LifeLabs. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with patients, explaining the specimen collection process and ensuring they have followed necessary test protocols.

  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.

  • Collect and prepare specimens for transportation and testing, ensuring accurate and timely processing.

  • Maintain accurate records and data entry, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and communication.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience in phlebotomy, intravenous infusion, and/or intravenous therapy.

  • ECG training or experience is an asset.

  • Proficient data entry skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

  • Ability to effectively relate to patients and healthcare providers, demonstrating empathy and flexibility in stressful situations.
