Job Description

Craftsman Collision is a leading provider of auto body repair services in Canada, with a strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Shop Manager.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting daily operations of the shop and providing leadership to ensure stakeholder objectives are met in a safe, effective, ethical and positive manner;
  • Supporting management of shop in alignment with our company's values and standards;
  • Supporting daily production, work flow and quality control of the shop;
  • Working with our operations team, people and culture team, and health, safety and environment manager to ensure that operations are compliant with all provincial and national regulatory standards;
  • Writing estimates and schedules repairs as required;
  • Reviewing and interpreting key performance indicators on an ongoing basis, and assisting with adjustment of shop operations as needed;
  • Reviewing and interpreting monthly financials, and assisting with adjustment of shop operations as needed;
  • Supporting overall direction, and providing coaching and leadership to the shop team;
  • Contributes to a work environment which helps foster the ability and desire of employees to act in empowered ways and make decisions;
  • Supporting clear communication of company objectives, delegates work (where required), and supports development of individuals and team;
  • Promoting a shop culture where Health and Safety is a priority;
  • Ensuring shop facility and team members follow all Health and Safety requirements, policies and procedures;
  • Supporting the team in providing the highest levels of customer service, both internally and externally;
  • Resolving customer service concerns and escalating to the Shop Manager where appropriate;
  • Proactively taking steps to reduce customer effort;
  • Staying abreast of current company marketing initiatives and promotions;
  • Supporting the Shop Manager and Marketing Manager on local initiatives and participating in community events, where required;
  • Supporting Shop Manager in conducting outside sales calls, networking in the community, and proactively developing new business for the shop to support revenue growth;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive industry or related experience, including experience in sales, customer service, management or leadership;
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
  • I-CAR Platinum certification an asset;
  • Proficiency in Mitchell Estimating, Audatex, ALLDATA an asset;
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset;
  • Strong verbal, written and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and other decision-makers;
  • Demonstrated aptitude to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency;
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated time management, problem solving, critical thinking and sound judgement skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer service-oriented attitude;
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms with the ability and willingness to learn new applications;
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development;
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions;
  • Occasional travel within Canada and to the US may be required for company functions;
