About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker to join our Home Instead team. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our clients in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, and other aspects of personal hygiene, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Companionship: Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, engaging in activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve nutritious meals, taking into account clients' dietary needs and preferences.
  • Household Support: Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and other household tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Transportation: Accompany clients on outings and provide transportation to appointments and activities.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Settlement Support: Assist clients with immediate settlement needs, such as housing, transportation, and storage.
  • Social Integration: Support clients in accessing community resources, language training, and skills training to promote social and labour market integration.
  • Cultural Awareness: Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.
Support for Youth
  • Youth Employment: Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment, offering on-the-job training and mentorship opportunities.
  • Workplace Inclusion: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
Support for Visible Minorities
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Participate in government or community programs that support members of visible minorities, applying hiring policies that discourage discrimination.
  • Mentorship: Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees, promoting career advancement and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
  • Language: English
  • Work Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
