MATERIALS COORDINATOR

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Materials Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that production schedules are met by effectively managing materials processes. This position is also tasked with overseeing inventory management to uphold the accuracy of inventory records.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate materials operations within a team-oriented cell concept, collaborating with manufacturing engineering, production, and quality assurance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain to align with business goals.
  • Ensure job accuracy by maintaining the integrity of series requirements, handling reject requirements, conducting cell audits, and managing various records.
  • Oversee the precise implementation of Engineering Change Orders for released jobs.
  • Support the development and dissemination of departmental policies and tools to enhance process success.
  • Assist in managing the Material department budget, including indirect labor, overtime, material supplies, communication tools, and travel expenses.
  • Work towards minimizing inventory adjustments.
  • Monitor and coordinate the flow of materials between departments.
  • Assist the shipping team in fulfilling open requisitions for timely dispatch.
  • Ensure all staging areas are cleared at the end of each shift.
  • Track and reduce negative inventory levels to zero, and monitor part status throughout the production process.
  • Address various challenges, including managing uncontrollable items, cross-training, maintaining sub-inventories, and fostering inter-departmental communication.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

  • APICS certification or enrollment in the APICS program is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel with analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Background in manufacturing is preferred.
