We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Engineering Project Manager to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of planning, preliminary, and detailed-design highway improvement projects, delivered by both in-house and outsourced resources. This includes liaising and working with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants, and the public.
Key Responsibilities- Manage planning, preliminary, and detailed-design highway improvement projects
- Liaise with ministry staff, senior management, and external stakeholders
- Lead and coordinate project teams
- Direct and supervise assigned staff
- Acquire and administer engineering service providers
- Lead public consultation programs
- Resolve planning and engineering issues
- Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Valid class G driver's license or equivalent
- Project management skills to manage projects and acquire consultants
- Well-developed leadership skills to assign and schedule work
- Proven oral and written communications skills to write reports and present proposals
- Proven effective interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain working relationships
- Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering
- Working knowledge of related fields, including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, construction practices
- Knowledge of alternative delivery methods, such as functional outsourcing, Total Project Management, and Design Build
- Sound analytical skills and good judgment to assess and recommend solutions to problems
