Position Overview

Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

As an Associate within the Corporate Banking division, you will collaborate with RBC Capital Markets to support the Toronto Corporate Banking Non-Bank Financial Institutions team in the origination, structuring, execution, administration, and management of revolving credit facilities, term loans, and M&A-related financing for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the structuring, execution (from pitch preparation to deal closure), and oversight of both syndicated and bilateral loan transactions.
  • Under the guidance of senior management, contribute to the preparation and delivery of marketing presentations to current and prospective clients.
  • Prepare credit submissions and relevant documentation for the transaction approval process, including support for loan syndications and pipeline management.
  • Provide coverage in Corporate Banking for designated clients, identifying cross-selling opportunities across all RBC Capital Markets products and services.
  • Collaborate in a team setting with Investment Banking, FICC, and other stakeholders.
  • Support internal credit administration by monitoring the team's loan portfolio performance and analyzing market/industry conditions impacting this performance, working closely with Loan Portfolio Management, Credit and Transaction Management, and Group Risk Management.
  • Coordinate with functional teams to ensure timely management of wires, electronic payments, loan repayments, transaction closings, document collection, settlements, and L/C issuance, while ensuring compliance with RBC's internal Know Your Client requirements.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements:

  • A degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in Corporate/Commercial Lending or Finance.
  • Strong financial, credit, and accounting competencies.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent presentation and client interaction skills.
  • Robust analytical and technical abilities.
  • Familiarity with loan agreements and related documentation.
  • Basic understanding of Capital Markets products.
  • Interest in financing, knowledge of key market players, and awareness of industry trends affecting broader market conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CFA, or other relevant professional credentials.
  • Experience in financial modeling.
