Position Overview

The Client Transportation Specialist plays a vital role in providing essential transport services to clients, ensuring their safe and comfortable journey from their residences to designated facilities. This position is crucial in supporting clients' mobility needs and enhancing their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport clients in an accessible vehicle according to the established schedule.
  • Complete all required certifications and training as mandated.
  • Conduct daily maintenance checks on the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle log sheets on a regular basis.
  • Assist clients with their equipment during pick-up and drop-off, ensuring safe handling.
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to policies regarding personal information protection.
  • Follow the established Driving Agreement and VON policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring service delivery aligns with schedules.

Relationships:

Engage regularly with clients to support their transportation needs and foster a positive experience.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficient in handling vehicle restraints and accessible equipment.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to operate accessible equipment such as wheelchairs and mechanical lifts.
  • Dependable, reliable, and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 35 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Physical fitness to engage in regular activity as part of the role.
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's permit and a clean driving record, updated annually.
  • Must possess a valid G class driver's license.
  • Proof of insurance coverage for personal vehicle use.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required upon employment.
  • Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be necessary.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Working Conditions:

This position demands a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, involving physical activities such as lifting, carrying, bending, and other movements that require good body mechanics. The role involves walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs throughout the day, with tasks necessitating fine motor skills.
