Job Title: Instrumentation and Control Engineer
Location: Mississauga, ON
Your Role within the Team:
- Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for Candu plants, including conceptual and detailed design, system functional and performance requirements, control algorithms, and control logic.
- Specify, size, and select I&C components, and create component-related documentation, including assessment documents, setpoint calculations, error analyses, and technical specifications.
- Update and prepare I&C engineering design documents, including design requirements, design description, elementary diagrams, functional specifications, and supporting analysis/assessment documents.
- Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of I&C-related engineering drawings, such as general arrangement drawings, instrument loop diagrams, wiring and connection diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Contribute to the development of computerized wiring programs and provide technical design input.
- Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other areas of the company.
- Assist in responding to technical enquiries from design review teams and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical support to engineering groups at site.
- Deliver technical presentations effectively.
- Manage assigned work effectively, prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting to meet project goals.
- Relevant Honours degree in a relevant field of engineering from a university of recognized standing.
- Demonstrate good technical skills and problem-solving capabilities, and be able to seek practical solutions to engineering problems.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and control system functions, configurations, and equipment as used for CANDU plant process systems, safety systems, or safety-related systems, or for similar systems in other industries would be an asset.
- Previous experience at an operating nuclear power station or a similar installation not required, but would be an asset.
- Familiarity with industrial/nuclear QA programs and procedures along with pertinent CSA, IEEE, or related I&C engineering codes and standards would be an asset.
- Willingness to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
- Experience commensurate with the grade level, with a minimum of 7 to 12 years of pertinent engineering experience.
- PEO eligibility would be an asset.
