Role Overview:
This position is essential for coordinating and advising the ministry's collaboration with Indigenous communities regarding resource management initiatives. The successful candidate will engage closely with Indigenous communities in Southern Ontario, focusing on consultation, engagement, and knowledge-sharing opportunities, all aimed at nurturing and sustaining relationships through exceptional communication.

This role is part of a vibrant team within the Aylmer Guelph District, known for its collaborative spirit and commitment to mutual support in managing Natural Resources in Southwestern Ontario. Our team values innovation, initiative, and leadership at every level. Key areas of focus include lands, aggregates, and fish and wildlife.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice, planning, and leadership for Indigenous programs and initiatives.
- Facilitate understanding, cooperation, and participation in sustainable resource management programs, focusing on land and resource allocation.
- Act as the ministry's representative or advisor in negotiations regarding resources and issues with Indigenous communities and associations.
- Support the development and execution of outreach initiatives aimed at non-Indigenous communities.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- A valid class G driver's license or equivalent recognized by the Province of Ontario.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Understanding or willingness to learn about Indigenous culture, social and economic issues, and relevant legislation and policies.
- Knowledge of natural resource management principles and government policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Ability to act as a ministry representative in fulfilling the Crown's duty to consult regarding land use and resource management.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Proven conflict resolution and facilitation skills to negotiate and build consensus on resource management issues.
- Ability to foster effective relationships with stakeholders and both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
- Competence in providing advice and information effectively, along with producing written materials such as reports and presentations.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information to address requests and concerns.
- Capability to apply policies and procedures to recommend solutions and provide support for issues management.
Administrative Skills:
- Proven ability to prepare work plans and budgets, and track expenditures and deliverables.
- Skilled in prioritizing, coordinating, and completing work within established timeframes.
