Position Overview:The Manager is accountable for overseeing daily patient care activities within the Medicine and Stroke Departments at GGH. They provide daily guidance to unit personnel to ensure high-quality, safe, evidence-based care in partnership with patients and their families, aligning with the vision, mission, and values of GGH. In collaboration with the Director, they implement initiatives that support departmental and strategic objectives of the organization.
The Manager, alongside the Director, ensures the provision of an environment that fosters and advances professional practice, leading clinical staff in executing evidence-based practices that are mindful of limited resources within a patient-centered care framework. They serve as a role model for professional and organizational core competencies and support quality patient care outcomes.

- Registered Healthcare Professional (preferably Nursing).
- Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field required; Master's degree in a health-related field preferred.
- Membership in relevant professional organization(s).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and responsibilities, with at least 2 years of formal management experience.
- Experience in guiding staff facing performance and/or attendance challenges.
- Familiarity with Lean process improvement methodologies.
- Exhibit leadership in enhancing patient and staff safety.
- Demonstrate leadership to support patient experience and satisfaction.
- Proven excellence in interpersonal communication, coaching, mentoring, and team-building skills.
- Ability to facilitate positive interactions among all members of the healthcare team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in complex clinical and emotional situations.
- Effective change management skills, with a track record of facilitating departmental change initiatives.
- Proven ability to make sound and effective decisions.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to analyze research and implement evidence-based practices into policy and procedure development and clinical practice.
- Knowledge of program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Skills in building collaborative relationships.

- Knowledge in clinical practice concerning the care of Medicine patients, including those with stroke, COPD, CHF, and complex medical and geriatric patients.
- Experience with patient flow within the medicine program.
