We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as VP Investments and Chief Compliance Officer. This role requires a deep understanding of portfolio management and compliance in regulated financial services businesses.

Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance
  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  2. Ensure compliance with Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA), FINTRAC, Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) & Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), Lending Regulation, and Privacy Law (PIPEDA).
  3. Draft, review, and maintain compliance and risk-related policies and procedures.
  4. Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as necessary.
  5. Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential risks.
  6. Investigate and resolve compliance issues and incidents.
  7. Develop and maintain incident and crisis management plans.
  8. Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
Investment Management
  1. Help Bankonloop obtain registration as a registered Portfolio Manager and Chief Compliance Officer.
  2. Develop and implement investment strategies that align with the company's objectives and client needs.
  3. Oversee the portfolio management function to ensure optimal performance and risk management.
  4. Conduct regular portfolio reviews and performance analysis.
  5. Stay abreast of market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes impacting investment strategies.
Requirements
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance and portfolio management roles within the financial services industry.
  2. Proficiency in portfolio management and financial analysis.
  3. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate across functional teams.
  4. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements across the Canadian payments and investment landscape.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Exceptionally clear and precise verbal and written communication skills.
  7. High ethical standards and integrity.
  8. Experience working in fast-paced, agile startup environments.
  9. Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
What We Offer

Salary range CAD$140,000-180,000 annual, commensurate with experience. Equity ranging 0.25%-1%. Enrollment in group's health benefits after the probation period.

Interview Process
  1. 30 minutes video call to discuss the opportunity and the organization.
  2. 60 minutes in-person meeting with the Head of Finance and Compliance and one other team member.
  3. Take-home assignment.
  4. 60 minutes in-person meeting with the CEO.
  5. Background check and offer.
