Overview
The B Pressure Welder plays a crucial role in the fabrication of piping systems based on provided schematics within a dynamic production setting. This position collaborates closely with Supervisors and Lead Hands to drive ongoing enhancements in work areas, achieve production targets, and perform welding in accordance with established parameters utilizing GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding techniques.
Roles & Responsibilities
Interpret and analyze blueprints or welding specifications; ensure that designs and specifications are suitable for the intended application. Utilize manual or semi-automatic welding apparatus to join metal components through processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting tools. Repair metal products by adding additional layers through welding. Conduct technical assessments, repairs, modifications, and upgrades. Monitor material usage and report any discrepancies. Ensure the accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects. Maintain comprehensive and precise records and documentation. Stay informed about advancements in technology, compliance, and repair methodologies. Assist in the training, guidance, and oversight of junior staff and apprentices, evaluating and certifying their work. Perform all responsibilities in alignment with the safety standards of Johnson Controls and relevant occupational health and safety regulations. Undertake additional tasks as necessary.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Licensed Journeyman Welder in Alberta. B Pressure Certification. Over 5 years of experience in B welding. Valid welding credentials in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified for all positions. Familiarity with routine maintenance tasks. Highly adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective collaboration in a diverse work environment. Proficient in both verbal and written communication. Capable of performing well under pressure. Exceptional attention to detail. Able to interact with individuals in a sensitive, tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner at all times.Working Conditions
Year-round employment (not seasonal). Primarily in-town work. Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. Strict adherence to safety protocols (use of protective gear). Overtime may be required. Hazards associated with the welding trade. Indoor working environment.Contacts
