Job Summary:
The Waste Depot Labourer is a key member of the GFL Environmental team, responsible for the safe and efficient handling, consolidation, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the Processing Facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents of York Region, ensuring a positive experience at the depot.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with York Regional employees and the public, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Stay up-to-date with all on-site training documents, ensuring a high level of knowledge and compliance.
- Receive and process Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste (MHSW) from residents, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Identify, sort, and pack MHSW into designated containers, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure the depot grounds and facility are clean and well-maintained, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Follow supervisor instructions and guidelines, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, prioritizing safety and well-being.
- Work in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all rules and regulations governing the depot's operations.
- Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs, ensuring seamless operations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Ability to perform moderately labor-intensive and repetitive tasks, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
- Physical fitness, with the ability to lift over 50 pounds and stand for extended periods on cement surfaces.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, with a focus on finding creative solutions.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
