Media Production Automation Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Automation Director to join our team at Bell. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the automation of our media productions, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in the automation of media productions, including preparation and production of shows for various broadcast productions.
  • Chronicle all aspects of the show, including graphics, reports, live segments, interviews, and other elements of a production.
  • Maintain equipment, software, and technical devices in a suitable and ready-to-use state, ensuring they are in working order.
  • In the event of technical failure or programming interruption, perform substitutions or adjustments to maintain service continuity. Assist broadcast personnel in resolving issues.
  • Coordinate production and presentation activities for shows.
  • Keep the director, artists, and team informed of any new developments or significant changes to the show.
  • Operate switching equipment, character generators, audio systems, Nexio, teleprompters, and other related technical equipment as needed and within regular rotation at the control room.
  • Operate automated studio camera equipment.
  • Organize and rehearse all elements of the show to ensure artists and team members are well-prepared.
  • As needed, order broadcast lines and satellites, and coordinate external broadcasts.
  • Ensure all elements used in the show are prepared according to defined standards.
  • Provide precise schedules to artists and team members throughout the show.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in News & Sports production is a must.
  • Extensive knowledge of TV production, including switching, shot blocking, computerized still and animated graphic production, and news/sports format development.
  • Experience with automation systems in control rooms and studios.
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of iNews or other NRCS.
  • Ability to work in a team, self-motivated, and committed to high production values in programming.
  • Proven creative and multitasking ability.
  • Superior planning, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Fundamental editorial judgment.
  • Experience assisting live TV.
