Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Rehabilitation Support Specialist. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Rehabilitation Support Specialist to become part of the team at Squamish Hospital in British Columbia. We encourage you to consider this opportunity to contribute to our mission.

Responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Support Specialist include:

  • Collaborating closely with the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators, as well as the assigned Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to implement established rehabilitative activities within both occupational therapy (OT) and physiotherapy (PT) domains.
  • Assisting the team with tasks such as:
  • receiving assignments and executing lower-risk interventions related to the clinical components of OT/PT care plans,
  • demonstrating and instructing activities,
  • modifying devices to empower patients/clients/residents to enhance their potential for independence,
  • providing functional guidance to patients/clients/residents and their families,
  • aiding in the practice of daily living skills.
  • Reporting pertinent observations regarding patient/client/resident progress and behaviors.
  • Offering direction to volunteers, organizing and sanitizing equipment and supplies for activities, and maintaining an established inventory of supplies.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in effective communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Capable of interacting with others in a constructive manner.
  • Physically able to perform the duties associated with the position.
  • Competent in organizing work efficiently.
  • Skilled in operating relevant equipment.

Additional Information

The working hours, including days off and work area, may be subject to change in accordance with operational needs and the provisions of the Collective Agreement and applicable regulations. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
