Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to enhance our Long Term Care team.
As a Rehabilitation Assistant at VCH, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators, as well as designated therapists, to implement established rehabilitative activities within the scopes of OT and PT.
- Assisting the team with various tasks, including:
- Executing assignments and implementing lower-risk interventions associated with OT/PT care plans,
- Demonstrating and instructing activities,
- Modifying devices to help patients/clients/residents achieve greater independence,
- Offering functional guidance to patients/clients/residents and their families,
- Aiding in the practice of daily living skills.
- Documenting relevant observations regarding patient/client/resident progress and behaviors.
- Supervising volunteers, organizing and sanitizing equipment and supplies for activities, and maintaining an established inventory of supplies.
About the Facility
The facility is an 86-bed long-term care establishment catering to seniors with complex needs, providing a home-like environment for its residents, as well as respite care, community bathing programs, and adult day care services.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Physical capability to perform the duties required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Competence in operating relevant equipment.
Additional Information
Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and applicable agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
