Job Overview Leader for Early Childhood Programs

The Recreation Department is seeking an Auxiliary Leader for Early Childhood Programs. This role involves the planning, execution, and supervision of a preschool initiative for children aged 3 to 5 years.

Your responsibilities will include establishing and sustaining a well-structured, engaging play atmosphere that promotes the growth of participants in both indoor and outdoor environments. This position will collaborate with families, educational institutions, and community resources. The program will necessitate the creation of activities that are crucial to various developmental milestones in children, encompassing art, literacy, fine and gross motor skills, and constructive play.

Typical working hours for this position are from 9:15 AM to 11:30 AM, with preparation time on either side to total 3.25 hours per day, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the academic year.

Essential Qualifications:
  1. Completion of Early Childhood Education or a preschool certification program, along with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  2. Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities
  3. Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  4. Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity, creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness
  5. Experience in coordinating and facilitating arts, crafts, and developmental programs for children
  6. Familiarity with outdoor preschool programming and/or Forest school principles
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Excel
  8. Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with children
  9. Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
  10. Current Occupational First Aid, Level 1 certification
