We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at Chetwynd General Hospital. Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions.
- Work closely with the care team to coordinate health services and participate in discharge and/or care planning.
- Function as a patient advocate and teach patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness.
- Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family and establish, maintain, and enhance therapeutic relationships based on respect.
- Provide care to patients across the lifespan and their families, based on stable and/or predictable states of health, and recognize and respond to unexpected patient outcomes.
- Document care provided and response to incidents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Emergency Department expectations.
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses and one (1) year recent experience working in a related area of care.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to caring for patients in the Emergency Department, including those across the lifespan with stable and predictable states of health.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pathophysiology related to common diagnoses related to designated patient groups.
- Demonstrated ability to perform nursing assessments and interventions related to common diagnoses and specific clinical situations relevant to the designated patient group.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical judgments to provide safe, ethical patient care and manage a select population of patients.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize potential complications and care issues relevant to the designated patient group and effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behavior.
- Demonstrated ability to document patient care on appropriate systems/forms in accordance with organizational and unit standards in a timely and accurate manner.
