About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Oncologist to join our team at Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating complex animal diseases, including cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds, and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests. Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgery.
  • Client Education: Advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene, and general care of animals.
  • Examinations: Perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.
  • Work Setting: Veterinary clinic.
  • Security and Safety: Criminal record check.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, ability to distinguish between colors, repetitive tasks, work under pressure, physically demanding.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Accurate, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.
