We are expanding our team and seeking a Medical Assistant to join us on a permanent full-time basis at our LMC Vaughan clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the patient flow within examination and treatment areas to optimize the use of facilities and the Physician's schedule.
  • Ensure accurate documentation (i.e., patient information and forms) in patient charts and liaise with medical laboratories and/or Physician offices as necessary for appropriate patient documentation.
  • Prepare patients for physician evaluations, which includes measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI, and accurately recording this information in the patient's chart.
  • Gather comprehensive patient medical and social histories.
  • Review medication lists for accuracy and completeness.
  • Promote coordinated and comprehensive care for patients in collaboration with the entire LMC care team, including endocrinologists, diabetes educators, pharmacists, chiropodists, optometrists, researchers, and health coaches.
  • Prepare examination rooms with the necessary medical supplies.
  • Download data from various glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors, and/or insulin pumps.
  • Utilize electronic software for downloading investigations, including DSQ, OLIS, Netcare, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical office setting and/or a Medical Office Assistant Diploma.
  • Previous experience as a Personal Support Worker or in a Medical Laboratory is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Practical Nurse is advantageous.
  • Proficient knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems (familiarity with Accuro is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience as a medical assistant and/or proficiency in measuring vital signs such as manual blood pressure and pulse is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills aimed at assisting patients in accessing services to enhance their health.
