Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field, such as health sciences, community development, or social work, and a minimum of five years of experience in program evaluation, community capacity building, or a related discipline.

Key qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the BC and Canadian health care systems and health research landscape
  • Experience in research, public engagement, and project management
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including First Nations, minority groups, and marginalized and vulnerable populations
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective public engagement strategies

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing public engagement strategies to promote health research and community involvement
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including community groups, researchers, and healthcare professionals
  • Providing training and support to community members and healthcare professionals on public engagement and research
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform public engagement strategies
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community partners and stakeholders

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in program evaluation, community capacity building, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the BC and Canadian health care systems and health research landscape
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including First Nations, minority groups, and marginalized and vulnerable populations

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • Training in public engagement and facilitation
  • Training in cultural safety and equity, diversity, and inclusion
