About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Memory Care Attendant to join our team at Seasons Retirement Communities. As a Memory Care Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents with dementia and cognitive impairment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide person-centered care services to residents, including medication administration, ensuring professionalism, dignity, and compassion in every interaction.
- Collaborate with the care team to follow infection control measures and maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and families.
- Assist with activity programs, housekeeping tasks, and laundry as assigned, promoting a person-centered approach to care.
- Respond to resident medical, physical, and emotional needs, working closely with the Memory Care Manager and Health and Wellness Manager.
- Support daily meal services, including set-up, serving, and tear-down, and assist residents with walking and eating.
- Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with residents and colleagues, ensuring every interaction is positive and meaningful.
- Complete all necessary education requirements in a timely manner, as required.
Requirements:
- Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Safe Food Handler's certification.
- Enrolled in the Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) Directory (applicable to Alberta applicants only).
- Empathy and compassion for the needs of the elderly, with a focus on individuals with Alzheimer's and dementia.
- Ability to communicate effectively, following written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, team members, and guests.
- Knowledge of medical equipment is considered an asset (blood pressure machine, oximeter, glucometer) or the ability to learn these skills with training.
- Previous experience providing personal care in a healthcare environment is preferred.
