About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Advancement to lead and provide strategic direction in all aspects of fundraising, alumni relations, and advancement communications for New College. This is a key leadership role that requires a proven track record of executive advancement responsibility and leadership in annual, major, and planned giving programs in a large complex organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement major gift fundraising programs at New College, identifying and cultivating donors at levels above $50,000.
  • Lead the development and implementation of annual and leadership campaigns, obtaining donations for New College's fundraising priorities from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Assist the Principal in developing initiatives to enhance financial support of New College, directing the process of engaging New College alumni and friends in the life of the college through special events, volunteerism, and alumni programs.
  • Ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift, maintaining the donor's involvement, interest, and support.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of staff, and train and oversee volunteers in areas of cultivation and solicitation activities.

Requirements:

  • A University degree, or an equivalent combination of education with advancement experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with direct fundraising experience and a proven track record of executive advancement responsibility and leadership in annual, major, and planned giving programs in a large complex organization.
  • Experience in organizing complex programs and events, managing a team, and directing the work of others.
  • Demonstrated volunteer management experience, strong client service orientation, and experience fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, experience working with Arbor or a similar database management system, and demonstrated strategic conceptualization, analytical, and planning skills.
