The Product Compliance and Responsible Management Specialist plays a pivotal role in collaborating with the compliance and management teams based in the United States, acting as a key link between various business sectors, legal advisors, and research and development teams across North America.

This position is essential for ensuring that Canadian perspectives are integrated into the North American operations, fostering a culture of compliance and responsible management.

The successful candidate will assist business units in proactively managing documentation related to product regulations and responsible management practices, while also facilitating the sharing of best practices across the region. A strong focus will be placed on compliance within Canada to strengthen the overall product compliance and responsible management framework at Saint-Gobain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to North American entities regarding adherence to regulations such as WHMIS, OSHA, EPA, REACH, and Prop 65.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate requirements related to human health, environmental compliance, and sustainability.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to product regulations.
  • Act as a strategic partner and subject matter expert to influence business decisions and enhance understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Support business units in addressing customer inquiries and managing regulatory documentation.
  • Engage with business groups to ensure regular assessments of responsible management practices for products.
  • Utilize technological tools to evaluate and select safer chemical alternatives.
  • Provide regulatory assistance to research and development teams and business units.
  • Support the creation of safety data sheets and manage directory software.
  • Gather product and supplier data while ensuring the confidentiality of business information.
  • Contribute to the selection of materials, products, and suppliers that meet safety and sustainability standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in responsible product management and compliance, with a focus on regulatory and risk management.
  • 1-3 years of experience in drafting health statements, data collection, safety data sheet reviews, and documentation writing.
  • 4-7 years of experience in Canadian regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, computer literacy, and database management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership over results.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for training and professional engagements.
