Project Engineer Job Description

Johnson Electric is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the coordination of technical quoting processes, supplier management, and project engineering of new product development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate technical quoting processes, including obtaining supplier quotes and handling supplier questions.
  • Lead project engineering efforts for new product development initiatives, working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal technical resources.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in design and testing of oil pumps.
  • Ensure accurate and error-free CAD designs, optimized for cast, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Develop functional prototypes that meet customer and blueprint requirements.
  • Manage data traceability for quotes and RFQ packages.
  • Meet with new suppliers and generate supplier profiles to support new supplier approval processes.
  • Support updates for global APQP systems.
  • Participate in project completion and APQP activities, ensuring the integrity and robustness of new product launches.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience in automotive design and development.
  • Experience in technical quoting.
  • Understanding of automotive ISO/IATF 16949 operating systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • 3D CAD design and PC experience.
  • Excellent customer liaison skills.
  • Team player with a "can-do" attitude.
