Position Overview
As a Concrete Quality Assurance Technician, you will be instrumental in verifying the integrity and longevity of concrete utilized in various construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will involve frequent site visits to gather samples and conduct an array of tests on concrete mixtures, collaborating closely with engineers, contractors, and other industry professionals. A solid grasp of concrete characteristics, testing methodologies, and teamwork is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tests on concrete mixtures to evaluate properties such as slump, air content, temperature, and density;
- Conduct compression assessments on concrete cylinders to determine strength metrics;
- Perform daily site visits to collect concrete samples;
- Maintain meticulous records of all testing processes and outcomes;
- Ensure adherence to applicable codes, specifications, and regulations;
- Undertake general laboratory tasks, including the operation and upkeep of testing apparatus;
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions;
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational background in civil engineering technology or a related field;
- Knowledge in concrete technology is advantageous;
- CCIL certification is a plus, though not mandatory;
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations;
- Proficiency in operating concrete testing instruments such as slump cones, air meters, and compression machines;
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders;
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities;
- Keen attention to detail and precision in documenting and reporting test results;
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively;
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary;
- Physical capability to lift and maneuver testing equipment;
- Commitment to upholding safety protocols and procedures.
