Job SummaryWe are seeking an Instructional Assistant to join our team at St.Amant School. As an Instructional Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other team members to deliver educational programs and provide care to small groups of students. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities- Supporting teachers to identify the total needs of a group of residents and developing individualized educational plans.
- Providing educational support and care to students, including carrying out directed learning activities and providing primary physical care as needed.
- Participating in a formal Individualized Program Planning (IPP) process to ensure that the overall needs and preferences of each student are addressed.
- Working closely with other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services.
- Communicating with students' family members or advocates as required.
- Grade XII diploma (or equivalent) and one year certificate in a relevant area of study (e.g. Developmental Service Worker Certificate, one year completed towards the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program or Educational Assistant Diploma).
- Class 4F driver's license (or Class 5F with the ability to secure Class 4F within six months).
- Experience working in a school program, preferably with individuals with severe developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach and possess good written and verbal communication skills.
