Position Overview

As a vital member of our organization, the House Parent plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing and secure atmosphere for individuals in a group living environment. This part-time, permanent position is centered around maintaining household standards, ensuring nutritional needs are met, and effectively managing the household budget. The House Parent is essential in fostering a safe and supportive environment for individuals facing complex challenges, including behavioral issues and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of specialized courses in food handling or communication is advantageous.
Experience
  • A minimum of one year of experience in preparing meals for large groups.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including children and adults with various challenges, is preferred.
Key Skills and Attributes
  • Proficient cooking and baking abilities.
  • Familiarity with dietary guidelines and individualized meal planning.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and order in the household.
  • Competence in working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy and patience in interactions with individuals of varying needs.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute monthly meal plans that prioritize nutrition and quality.
  • Prepare wholesome, home-cooked meals and snacks for residents.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization within the home.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to individuals with complex needs.
  • Assist in teaching essential life skills, including budgeting and self-care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Leadership and Resource Management
  • Guide and mentor team members in meal preparation and household management.
  • Oversee the monthly food and supplies budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
