About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Assistant to join our Primary Care Network team in North Vancouver. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical and clerical support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to healthcare professionals, including taking medical histories, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with medical procedures.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and communicating with patients and families.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with community resources and agencies to provide patients with relevant information and support.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant program.
  • One year of recent, related clinical medical office support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of clinical policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Working knowledge of community resources and agencies.
  • Business writing skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform basic medical tests and accurately assess and record results in medical files.
  • Ability to respond independently and effectively to emergent situations and present health information to individuals.
  • Ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain satisfactory work relationships with clients and staff.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with coworkers, clients, and staff from other agencies.
