Corporate Communications Strategist

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Digital, Design, and Public Relations, this role is pivotal in conducting research to uncover opportunities that enhance the Region's visibility and promote its services. The position involves representing the Region at various public events and cultivating robust partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to bolster the Region's corporate public relations initiatives. The incumbent will provide leadership and guidance regarding corporate outreach activities, which includes chairing committees, delivering training sessions, and customizing public materials and presentations to effectively promote, protect, and profile the Region's brand and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify, plan, and coordinate initiatives aimed at elevating the Region's profile within the community through public outreach and community engagement events. Oversee the procurement of corporate merchandise, managing both internal and external sales in accordance with established procedures. Lead the organization and management of targeted focus groups and resident surveys to inform public outreach strategies. Identify and assist in developing efficiencies in corporate communication, support systems, controls, directives, and enhancements to maintain and improve the Region's presence, ensuring effective stakeholder communication across departments. Chair the internal community engagement team, providing leadership to maximize the Region's profile and impact at public events, sharing best practices and industry insights. Oversee corporate-led advertising initiatives, including identifying suitable specialty publications and supporting the Region's coordinated media buying efforts. Develop strategic alliances with community organizations, local municipalities, and other entities to enhance the effectiveness of the Region's public relations and outreach efforts. Represent the Region at public and corporate events, ensuring that representation aligns with corporate branding and messaging. Support and coordinate corporate events, including designated outreach initiatives and communication-focused conferences as necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with brand and departmental objectives.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a Community College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven event management capabilities and the ability to foster collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams and staff at all organizational levels. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with staff, the public, and community partners. Demonstrated experience in leveraging both traditional and new media to support public relations initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills for chairing committees, facilitating training, prioritizing tasks, and adhering to deadlines and budgets. Experience in monitoring and evaluating brand management and engagement efforts. Knowledge of relevant standards, acts, and regulations. Familiarity with corporate core competencies, including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, accountability, and adaptability. Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's license with no serious infractions under the Highway Traffic Act. Ability to travel to various locations efficiently as required. Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including weekends, as necessary. Capability to lift and set up for events, including working outdoors in varying weather conditions.-
