The Cloud Security Architect will play a pivotal role in facilitating the adoption of public cloud technologies by delivering security-centric insights, guidance, and expertise, all while considering business operations to protect RBC's data, reputation, and core values. The ideal candidate will possess a unique perspective, a proven track record of successful delivery, and relevant qualifications in the fields of cyber security and cloud security.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the security of Azure, AWS, and GCP public cloud environments at RBC.
- Design and implement preventative and detective security measures in alignment with RBC's cloud security objectives, utilizing modern automation, configuration as code, and test-driven development principles to enhance reliability.
- Develop automated reporting and monitoring solutions to provide developers with timely feedback, enabling early identification of security vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with application developers to address and remediate security weaknesses in their applications and resources.
- Drive the execution and delivery of the Cloud Security strategy and initiatives.
- Innovate and enhance Cloud Security capabilities within RBC.
- Lead the creation of comprehensive technical cloud security designs and architectures to ensure secure application onboarding, meeting stakeholder requirements without delaying time to market.
- Conduct security assessments of cloud services to ensure compliance with industry best practices and establish necessary security controls for safe operations.
- Engage in threat modeling and security architecture evaluations of cloud designs and patterns.
- Work closely with cloud stakeholders to design, implement, and validate Cloud Security controls.
- Effectively partner with key stakeholders on complex projects, demonstrating excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Qualifications for Success
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Cyber Security.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud security frameworks and governance practices, including at least 3 years with Public Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in securing container technologies.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools such as ARM, CloudFormation, and/or Terraform.
- Demonstrated ability to make architectural decisions based on simplicity, industry standards, scalability, and reusability.
- Experience in securing cloud services and preventing configuration drift using native or third-party tools (CSPM, IaaC, linter).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recognized security-related industry certifications (CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, etc.).
- Public cloud certifications from Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKS).
- Strong understanding and/or practical experience with security technologies: NGFW, IPS, VPN, endpoint security, IAM, SIEM, WAF, API Security, web traffic decryption, vulnerability assessment, DDoS mitigation, DLP, key management, PKI, CASB, SASE.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
