Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our Subsidiary Accounting team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate financial reporting for our subsidiaries, while maintaining compliance with governing regulations and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze financial results of subsidiaries, identifying and resolving any issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial statements, regulatory returns, and other documentation.
  • Collaborate with the COE to maintain the issues log and change management log, monitor reconciliations, and identify process improvements.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve financial processes and ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide real-time assistance to team members and GBS Bogota resources as required.
  • Partner with GBS Bogota to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk management frameworks.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to define requirements, respond to queries, and facilitate communications.
  • Act as a backup resource for GBS Bogota and support special projects as required.
Requirements
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree with 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and disclosure requirements (IFRS).
  • Experience preparing and reviewing audited financial statements.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank's general ledger (PeopleSoft EGL), OBI/Smart View, and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to interface with various geographies and partners.
  • Spanish skills an asset.
