WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) team is pivotal in crafting and enhancing advanced investment methodologies. As a senior quantitative risk specialist, you will utilize the extensive data resources of RBC to develop automated solutions and analytical models. Your role will involve providing analytical insights to various trading and sales teams across asset classes, including Commodities, FX, Rates, and Equities, while also researching, designing, and executing investment strategies tailored for clients. This position fosters a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere aimed at creating innovative solutions that enhance trading and risk management practices.

WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

  • Designing and sustaining automated data workflows, infrastructure, index calculation frameworks, and related processes.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to identify and fulfill requirements for data quality, accuracy, and promptness.
  • Ensuring governance and compliance for all data workflows, adhering to established documentation protocols.
  • Enhancing and maintaining tools that support trading operations, quantitative strategies, and risk management initiatives.
  • Developing risk management frameworks in collaboration with trading teams.
  • Collaborating with IT and business units to establish data validation techniques and processes.
  • Conducting research, designing, and implementing investment strategies for clients.
  • Monitoring existing strategies and providing ongoing quantitative support to trading and sales teams.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED?

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science). A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven ability to utilize relevant technologies (e.g., Python, C++, SQL, q/KDB) to address complex problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with derivative products and their valuation techniques.
  • Understanding of quantitative strategies and back-testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of futures and/or equity trading principles.
  • Awareness of market risk management concepts such as Value at Risk (VaR).
  • Experience in data processing and manipulation.
