Pathology Assistant Job Description

As a Pathology Assistant, you will play a vital role in our team, working closely with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of duties required by the Pathology department, including examining, describing, dissecting, weighing, and photographing small and complex large gross surgical specimens of all tissue types.
  • Assist with or perform autopsies under pathologists' supervision.
  • Work independently or as a team member, with high degree of motivation and independent judgment.
  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of anatomy and tissue processing.
  • Utilize computer proficiency, including Meditech and Paradigm, to support daily tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and patients, demonstrating strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Contribute to a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and high degree of professionalism.
  • Problem-solve and work under pressure to maintain high level of productivity and competence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Biology and/or Masters of Pathology or equivalent education with a minimum of two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and tissue processing.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Meditech and Paradigm.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently or as a team member, with high degree of motivation and independent judgment.
