Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join our corporate finance team at our head office. Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the finance team.

As a key member of our team, the Assistant Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial statements. This includes:

  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements and ensuring timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Support in managing interim and year-end audits
  • Assistance in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasting
  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting operations
  • Providing support in ministry reporting
  • Implementing and monitoring internal controls as well as overall processes and procedures
  • Identifying opportunities for process, reporting, and system improvements
  • Other ad hoc projects

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and be a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). They will also have experience in a supervisory or management role, as well as experience with full-cycle accounting. Additionally, they will have an in-depth understanding of the senior care continuum and accounting and tax requirements for Canadian senior housing companies, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
