About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Assistant to join our team at Friends Painting & Renovations Inc. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of construction projects, including loading and transporting materials, performing pre-operational inspections, and assisting in the erection and dismantling of scaffolding and other structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading Materials: Assist in loading and unloading construction materials, such as concrete and asphalt, from trucks and equipment.
  • Pre-Operational Inspections: Perform pre-operational inspections on equipment and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Erecting and Dismantling Scaffolding: Assist in the erection and dismantling of scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
  • Assisting in Construction Tasks: Assist in various construction tasks, including mixing and pouring concrete, assisting in drilling and blasting rock, and assisting in framing houses and erecting walls.
  • Leveling Earth: Level earth to fine grade specifications.
  • Advising Consumers: Advise consumers on colors and choice of wall coverings.
  • Maintenance Work: Perform routine maintenance work, including cleaning and piling salvaged materials.
  • Removing Debris: Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
  • Tending Equipment: Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction.
  • Directing Traffic: Direct traffic at or near construction sites.
  • Repairing Cracks: Repair cracks and holes in surfaces.
  • Preparing Surfaces: Prepare, clean, and sand surfaces to be painted.
  • Mixing Paint: Mix paint to desired color and texture.
  • Estimating Costs: Estimate costs and materials for construction projects.
  • Erecting Scaffolding: Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging.
  • Applying Finishes: Apply paint, wallpaper, and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 35 to 44 hours per week.
