Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian to join our team at Trinity Western University. As the Assistant Librarian - Copyright and Education Specialist, you will play a key role in providing expert guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students on copyright and education-related matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reference and information services to users, including in-person and virtual support, as well as participation in AskAway, B.C.'s academic virtual reference service.
  • Develop and manage information literacy initiatives across the university's curriculum, including individual and group orientation and instruction.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of library collections, in all formats.
  • Identify and obtain copyright permissions and digital clearances from publishers or copyright holders as needed.
  • Track all details of permission requests and maintain contact databases and financial activity related to copyright clearance.
  • Assist faculty and staff with copyright and licensing queries for teaching and research needs, and provide copyright-related user education.
  • Act as primary liaison librarian to the School of Education, providing specialized orientation and information literacy sessions, research assistance, and resourcing School of Education initiatives.
Requirements
  • ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent).
  • 2-3 years' experience in an academic library, with experience in an education library or curriculum resource centre highly desirable.
  • Excellent database, Internet, and print reference research skills, as well as knowledge and experience in planning, developing, managing, and assessing information literacy programs.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
